How we work

Six principles.

Start with the customer.

Asset, app, network. None of it matters if the person on the other end isn't getting something real. We work backwards from there.

Bold failure beats timid success.

In a market where only outliers truly succeed, small cautious bets are a guaranteed path to oblivion. Stretch goals are telescopes, not cliffs.

Eat the fog.

Waiting for perfect information is a decision to do nothing. Reversible decisions move fast; irreversible ones get the time they need.

Ship in slices.

Cut the work into pieces that ship. If a date is going to slip, scope shrinks before the date moves. Velocity is a function of how small you can break work down.

Decentralize, then document.

Every team owns its own infrastructure, its own data, its own stack. The price of decentralization is documentation: write what you built, where, and why.

Flow, not copilot.

Most companies use AI like a faster keyboard. We use it to put work into continuous flow, and judge it by what changes for a user, not by which model wrote which line.

    Start with the customer.

    You don't need to be told to walk in their shoes. You already do. Every week, on every team you've been on. The product is the job.

  2. 02

    Builder, not commentator.

    Your default surface is a PR, a written spec, a working prototype. Not a deck. Not a meeting. You write things down. You publish.

  3. 03

    Reach for AI by instinct.

    You don't wait for permission. You don't wait for tooling. If a piece of your work is repeatable, you've already started building the thing that runs it.

  4. 04

    Honest under pressure.

    You say I don't know when you don't know. You flag the assumptions in your designs rather than presenting them as inevitable. The signal is what happens when the conversation gets hard.

  5. 05

    High agency.

    You start with the end in mind, define your own success criteria, and course-correct without being asked. You don't need a manager to tell you what to work on.

How we hire

Three simple stages.

Real conversations. A small piece of real work. A decision at the end.

  1. 01

    Conversation

    45 minutes. You walk us through a system you've built, the tradeoffs you made, what you'd change. We describe one we're working on. No LeetCode. No whiteboard theater.

  2. 02

    Craft loop

    60–90 minutes, with 24–48 hours to prepare. We hand you a real problem we're working on. You design an approach using whatever tools help. We're listening for how you defend your choices.

  3. 03

    Team day

    Three or four conversations with people you'd actually work with, including someone who would not be your manager. Bring hard questions. We'll answer them. Decision within five business days.

AI in the room

Use whatever AI tools you reach for. We do, all day. The question isn't whether you used AI. It's whether you can defend what you produced.

    We care more about where you decided not to use it.

We respond to thoughtful emails within five business days. Resume optional. Link to anything you've shipped that you're proud of: code, writing, a working loop, a Notion page, a Figma file, a video. Show, don't tell.
